This unusual deep violet and pure white hybrid looks like Colorado's state flower, A. caerulea. A beautiful and enduring perennial for any garden, and among the first Columbines to be visited by returning hummingbirds.
Lacy greens and dancing, late-spring blooms characterize Columbines. These lovely border plants make excellent cut flowers if picked when half open. Grow in full sun or partial shade (required in the South and in western Zones 9 and 10) and average garden soil. Propagation is by seed, so color, while quite reliable, cannot be guaranteed. Aquilegias struggle in the desert Southwest.
