This vigorous hybrid Hellebore produces many creamy white flowers that display well above the leathery evergreen foliage. 'Ivory Prince' is vegetatively propagated, rather than a seed strain, assuring you will enjoy the outward-facing blooms and the distinctively veined and toothed foliage. PP 16,199
Hellebores require a moist, shaded site and respond especially well to planting under deep-rooted deciduous trees such as Oaks, Crab Apples and Crape Myrtles. A mulch of limestone chips enhances growth and flowering. Supply these basics and Hellebores generally prove tenacious and long-lived, tolerant of drought once rooted in, and all but invulnerable to deer and voles.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED
The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

Rowanshire from Northbridge, MA
I love Hellebore Ivory Prince. Compact and shorter than most hellebores, it is incredibly floriferous with upward facing waxy blooms in green shading to ivory and tinged in peachy pink. I have to cut away all the previous years leaves to enjoy the flowers because in my Zone (5)I find the leaves get winter burn. But new leaves sprout shiny and dark and beautiful with the flowers. My plants flowered for two months. I highly recommend this plant.
Latin Name Pronunciation: hel-eh-bor'us
These evergreen plants bring an architectural quality to the shady garden. Most bloom in early winter in mild climates and in late winter or very early spring where the ground freezes hard. Resistant to both deer and voles, they are long-lived and provide exquisite blooms at a time when flowers are a scarce delight.
Fertilizer/Soil and pH
Watch for slug or snail damage, and control with baits or diatomaceous earth.
Hellebores are lovely with other denizens of light shade such as:
They truly enliven woodland gardens. The larger, more exuberantly colored varieties or double forms are a great addition to the shady border.
Although plants may be slow to settle in, once they do, they rarely need division and may resent it.
