Somewhat particular plants, Hellebores require a moist, shaded site and respond especially well to planting under deep-rooted deciduous trees such as Oaks, Crab Apples and Crape Myrtles. Supply these basics, however, and Hellebores generally prove tenacious and long-lived, tolerant of drought once rooted in and all but invulnerable to deer and voles.
