'Stella de Oro' begins its display of golden yellow flowers in mid-June and keeps on flowering at a steady pace until fall if the spent blooms are removed. This means it throws lots of 24in flower scapes practically all summer, making it the all-time blooming champion among Daylilies. Use it in borders or in containers on a patio or deck, or make a Daylily border just of 'Stella'. For sheer volume of blooms, she can't be beat. Winner of the Stout Silver Medal from American Hemerocallis Society in 1985.
Daylilies are the plants every gardener dreams of. They offer glorious flowers in every shade except blue, a long season of bloom (though individual flowers last but a day), and a robust disposition that makes them easy to transplant, easy to maintain, quick to multiply, and resistant to pests. Planted together in large numbers, they quickly crowd out weeds and make a carefree and colorful ground cover. Among the miracles of modern breeding are tetraploid Daylilies, which have double the normal chromosomes. They have larger flowers with heavier texture and more blooms per stem over a longer period.
We ship large, field-grown plants that usually bloom the first year. They will outperform lesser grades offered elsewhere. Except as noted, all are "dormant" varieties, meaning they are deciduous.
