The mass of triangular, coarsely toothed leaves forms a broad canopy 3–4′ tall and as wide. It sets the stage for the erect cylindrical spikes of deep yellow flowers that appear from late July through August. A unique personality that will turn a damp spot into a design statement. Winner of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
The genus Ligularia is huge, and the best of the species are large, handsome plants of great charm that thrive in full sun when moisture is reliable or even constant and partial shade where it is not. They are excellent companions for large Hostas.
HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED
The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

Fertilizer/Soil: Ligularia grows well in compost-enriched soil. They benefit from a generous layer of organic mulch applied in spring.
Pests and Diseases: No serious pests or diseases, but may need to control slugs and snails.
