There are few plants that can rival Oriental Poppies for sheer impact in the garden, and 'Türkenlouis' is one of the showiest of the lot. Its huge, orange-red blooms, with their frilly, fingered petals, glow like hot coals, igniting the landscape as spring turns to summer. Bareroot.
When you want to introduce excitement into the June border, consider Poppies, for their ruffled and shimmering petals pack more pigment than you can imagine, and the range of hues is broader than one is accustomed to thinking. Broad, silky flowers with brocaded centers are borne on stems that range from 2 to 4ft above pale green foliage that is, well, almost weedy-looking. But while the flowers are in bloom, you'll never notice the low-growing leaves. Plant Poppies in groups in a sunny, well-drained perennial garden and match them with summer bloomers or annuals that will conceal their early dormancy. Poppies also make stunning cut flowers when given a simple treatment that reduces the loss of sap. Sear the ends of freshly cut stems with a match.
Our plants are shipped early, beginning in September, to allow them time to settle in and make a good start in your garden. Bareroot.
