Product Details

While the native plant Rudbeckia fulgida is enchanting, sullivantii 'Goldsturm' improves upon an already good thing by providing more and bigger flowers in a consistent bright golden yellow on upright plants that reach 40″. It blooms prodigiously from late July to early October. Leaf spots are endemic to this popular variety of Rudbeckia, not attractive but also not harmful to the plant.

Rudbeckia is a genus of highly decorative native American perennials that bloom from late summer until frost. One of the best and most beloved garden plants of all time is the Black-eyed Susan, a glorious and traditional highlight of summer. They need plenty of sun and good drainage, and offer long-lasting cut flowers.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

WHEN WE SHIP

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

OUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-503-9624 or email us at [email protected]. Please include your order number or customer number when contacting us.

One of the best perennials!

Black Eyed Susans require lots of room to spread and do it quickly. Goldsturm is a particularly lovely color.

RELIABLE LATE SUMMER FALL COLOR AND FORM

RUDBECKIA GOLDSTURM and KNOCKOUT ROSE make my garden sing with COLOR AND FORM in the fall and early winter and are THE BEST PERFORMERS IN MY GARDEN. IN WINTER THESE 2 PLANTS HAVE A STRUCTURE THAT GIVES INTEREST TO THE GARDEN WHEN BLOOMS ARE GONE. Rubeckia Goldsturm is easy care and combines well with ferns, daylilies, hostas, siberian irises, geraniums and daffodils for a carefree sure-fire flower bed. I DO NOT FIND THIS PLANT INVASIVE. It is easy to divide and a pleasure to have more of it to plant elsewhere. RUBECKIA GOLDSTURM has been a respected member of my garden for 20 years. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

VERY agressive spreader!!!!!

Rudbeckia Goldsturm was SO invasive, I ended up putting it together in the same bed with ox-eye daisies, which are also invasive, but bloom earlier, where the two of them were ALL ALONE and told them, "Okay, fight it out!!!!!"

Easy to grow in full sun (provide partial shade in the South).

Plant in average garden soil. R. triloba varieties thrive in dry soil, as well. Most are biennial but self-sow abundantly. R. Goldsturm Strain can spread in warm climates, especially if soil is light and moist. Dig out extra plants in spring.
