We remain devoted to Scilla siberica and stick more in the ground every time we get a chance. While a carpet or either color is mighty nice, a blend provides a sense of texture and depth that works better on rough ground. Plant them in loose drifts or tight clumps, for they will shortly create their own design, and you will love it.
Scillas have the agreeable habit of self-propagating freely in full sun or light shade and well-drained soil, living long, trouble-free lives. They naturalize readily in low grass or at the feet of deciduous trees and shrubs. The short stature of most makes them welcome at the front of a perennial border or in a rock garden as well.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED
The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

While waiting for the garden to bloom it's so wonderful to have these bright blue pops of color after the snow has melted and the remaining garden is still brown. The squirrels left them alone so that was an added bonus.
Latin Name Pronunciation: sill'uh
Bulb size: 8-10 cm
Plant 3 times the height of the bulb deep and 3 times the bulb's width apart (bulb size varies depending on cultivar; it is hard to be more specific). These woodland plants thrive in full sun or shade.
