The Currant Tomato, Lycopersicon pimpinellifolium, is a separate species from the familiar grocery Tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum). Currant Tomatoes are small (measuring about 1/3in), but pack a delectable half-tart, half-sweet flavor. They grow on remarkably vigorous vines that are untroubled by most blights and wilts and are prolific bearers of long trusses of fruits. These delicious little gems are great in salads and perfect for drying. Indeterminate. Fruits ripen about 70–75 days from transplant.
Our stocky seedlings are grown and shipped in 3in pots that are a full 4in deep, so the plants you receive have strong, well-developed root systems. For more information on growing and care, click Growing Guide.
