Favored by commercial growers for better than two decades, this soft-sided, porous-fabric bag has won the heart of many a serious container gardener. The dark material quickly warms the soil in spring and then sheds heat when the season grows hot, staying cooler than hard-sided pots or tubs. It promotes vigorous healthy roots that branch repeatedly instead of circling constrictively. Fill it with 15 gallons of good potting mix; then plant Potatoes, a Tomato, a small shrub or tree, or a mound of colorful annuals -- all will flourish. You can even cut holes in the sides and plant them like a strawberry pot. The container can be reused for years and, when empty, folds flat for efficient off-season storage.
