Tomatillo Toma Verde

Tomatillo Toma Verde

The improved 'Toma Verde' strain produces an abundance of green-fleshed, 1 1/2in papery-husked Tomatillos that look like large green cherry Tomatoes in size and shape. Their pleasant sweet-tart flavor is indispensable for salsas and other southwestern dishes. Tomatillos will grow effortlessly anywhere Tomatoes can be grown, and their robust vines yield heavy harvest. Pick the round fruits, remove papery outer husks, and use fresh or cook them down into a simple piquant sauce to enliven rice, egg dishes, chicken, pork, tacos, and burritos. Fruits freeze easily, so you can enjoy cooking with them year-round.

Our stocky seedlings are grown and shipped in 3in pots that are a full 4in deep, so the plants you receive have strong, well-developed root systems. For more information on growing and care, click Growing Guide.
