We’re delighted to have stock of Acer palmatum 'Orange Dream', a rare Maple with a unique palette. Relatively upright in habit, its neat foliage is bright orange-yellow when it opens. Leaves steadily tone down to yellow green and then flame in fall. Because it grows slowly, this maple is good initially in a container. Keep in mind, however, that it will eventually form a small tree.
The 150 species of Maples have a wide distribution from Europe and Asia to North and Central America. Their winged fruits twirl like helicopters when they drop, but their often-colorful, lobed or finely cut leaves are their real attraction.
