All the qualities of our native Oakleaf Hydrangea are found here— large, sculptural leaves, cones of creamy white flowers, handsome peeling bark— with a twist. Plants grow only 3-4ft high, and their foliage is golden yellow. Flowers persist through the summer, changing to shades of pink and rose. In fall the leaves turn rich hues of burgundy. Perfect for the woodland or the border. Hydrangeas are at their best in summer and fall— quiet time for most woody plants— and are worth having for that reason alone. PPAF
