The felted chartreuse foliage of this standout will win you over, but the plant’s easy-care habit is the real attraction. These vigorous annuals hug the ground or spill out of containers, requiring only a bit of water to spread up to 3′ and look marvelous from spring to fall. In hot-summer climates, partial shade is required for optimal foliage color.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED
The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

Helichrysum petiolare is a very useful garden plant with softly felted leaves. Its stems form low mounds that weave their way through neighboring plants. Light needs vary from full sun to partial shade depending on the variety; check the plant label for the proper light for your variety. Plants thrive in average to dry soil (they require even moisture in the South and West). Prune if sprawling stems reach beyond their allotted space. Plants are hardy in Zones 8-10. To overwinter them in colder climates, cut them back hard and set them in a sunny window.
