No need to coax these deciduous Rhododendrons (also known as Azaleas) through the winter—the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum developed the "Light Series" to withstand very cold temperatures (some are bud hardy to –45 degrees F). All require little care and make a powerful display of blooms in foundation plantings or shrub borders before receding into the background for the summer. As nights cool in fall, the leaves of Lilac Lights™ turn light yellow, while those of 'Northern Hi-Lights' take on burgundy tones. Flowers of white-and-yellow 'Northern Hi-Lights' and rich pink 'Rosy Lights' have a sweet scent. An exotic pattern of dark speckles on pinkish purple petals make the blooms of Lilac Lights™ especially striking. One of each plant.
