Exclusive.We adore Tulips and Lilies, in the garden and in the vase. Unfortunately, some gardeners can't share our enthusiasm, because voles or gophers feast on their bulbs. We've now developed a cage that appears to foil burrowing critters. It's 12″ square by 6″ high and made of galvanized heavy-gauge steel wire, welded into a 1/2″ mesh. Dig a hole to the required depth for the bulbs, set up the cage, place the bulbs, and backfill. The cage holds up to 5 Asiatic Lily bulbs and from 9 to 24 Tulips (depending on how extravagant a display you desire). If you've abandoned Tulips and Lilies because of subterranean varmints, here's an opportunity to enjoy these beauties again.
HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED
The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.
WHEN WE SHIP
We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the Shipping Details box for each item. Please refer to the Shipping Details box to determine the earliest shipping time. Unless you specify otherwise, fertilizers, tools, and other non-plant items are shipped with your plants or bulbs. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at expected time of delivery.
We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. I had no evidence of voles in my garden - not to say they weren't there but they made it right thru the flower bed that held two cages of beautiful tulips and were "held back" of course. The critters seemed to disappear shortly after I stomped down their tunnels and never appeared elsewhere. Thank you for the "spring treat of such color from my tulips"!

We planted tulips in two of these bulb cages this spring. The bulbs did not come out at all in one cage; in the other cage, some green came out but nothing else. However, all the other bulbs we planted that were NOT in cages did well. We had voles or moles over the winter but they did not bother the tulips not in cages, perhaps thanks to the animal repellent we use.
