"THE GREAT TOMATO CELEBRATION RECIPE CONTEST"
Christopher Kimball of America's Test Kitchen will Choose the Winners
This year at White Flower Farm, it's all about edibles! The new Spring 2009 catalog (available at www.whiteflowerfarm.com) offers over 145 varieties of tomatoes, as well as dozens of vegetables and fruit plants for home gardeners.
And to kick off The Great Tomato Celebration of 2009, White Flower Farm is sponsoring their first ever recipe contest -- The Great Tomato Celebration Recipe Contest. The contest is limited to residents of the continental U.S.
CONTEST RULES:
Recipe must be original (i.e., it can't be copied from a published recipe).
Fresh tomatoes must be an integral part of the recipe (please list the specific kind of tomatoes preferred in the recipe).
Canned or frozen tomatoes may be used in the recipe in addition to fresh tomatoes.
Recipe may be for an appetizer, salad, soup, sandwich, main dish or dessert.
Each recipe must include 25-100 words explaining what makes the recipe so tasty.
Each contestant may submit up to three recipes.
Each entry must include the contestant's name, address, email address, phone number, and the best time to be reached.
Contestants must live in the continental U.S.
Entries are due by March 15, 2009. Winners will be notified by the end of April 2009.
Prizes:
One grand prize and two runner-up prizes will be awarded.
Grand Prize -- Awarded for Summer 2009:
Mileage to Litchfield, Connecticut or Round Trip Air Fare for two from a point within the continental U.S. to Bradley International Airport in Connecticut. Flight must be booked 30 days in advance and cannot include changes (unless paid for by the winner). Airport pickup and transportation to and from the airport by White Flower Farm is included.
Two nights at a local inn, including meals, arranged for by White Flower Farm.
A day at the nursery with the gardeners of White Flower Farm. You will work in the gardens, visit the greenhouses, tour the property and more.
A morning tour of local gardens arranged by White Flower Farm.
$250 gift certificate to White Flower Farm.
A copy of The Cook's Country Cookbook, The America's Test Kitchen Family Cookbook and two other cookbooks from America's Test Kitchen.
Prize for each Runner-up:
$100 gift certificate to White Flower Farm.
Three cookbooks from America's Test Kitchen.
Heirloom tomato plant collection (6 plants, shipping included) from White Flower Farm.
Contest winners may have their recipes published on the White Flower Farm website, and/or local or national media outlets.
Christopher Kimball, publisher and editor of Cook's Illustrated and Cook's Country magazines, and host of America's Test Kitchen and Cook's Country from America's Test Kitchen public television shows, will choose the winners.
