Growing Capsicum

Latin Name Pronunciation: kap'-si-kum

CULTURE: Full sun. Good potting soil that drains quickly. Fertilize every 2 weeks with a water-soluble fertilizer that has a 20-20-20 ratio. Water when the soil is dry one to two inches down from the surface. The shiny fruits are first black, then ripen to dark red. They are edible, and very hot. The plants do well in heat and humidity; in fact, in cool, damp weather they are not as vigorous. Drought seldom bothers them. Spread 12-16 inches.

SUGGESTED USE: For container gardens or window boxes.

PROBLEM: Take care not to wipe your eyes after handling the fruit.
