From the Honeymoon™ series of single-flowered Hellebores comes this lovely selection. The 3–4″ blossoms range in color from rich maroon to deep burgundy. Golden centers with creamy white stamens add the perfect touch.
The genus Helleborus contains about 20 species of perennials that bloom in early winter in mild climates and in late winter or early spring where the soil freezes hard, which makes them either the last or the first flowers in the garden. They require a moist but well-drained site under the shade of trees. Take care to amend the soil with plenty of organic matter, such as well-aged leaf mold and compost. You'll be rewarded with long-lived, deer- and vole-resistant plants that will spread nicely on their own.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED
The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

Latin Name Pronunciation: hel-eh-bor'us
These evergreen plants bring an architectural quality to the shady garden. Most bloom in early winter in mild climates and in late winter or very early spring where the ground freezes hard. Resistant to both deer and voles, they are long-lived and provide exquisite blooms at a time when flowers are a scarce delight.
Fertilizer/Soil and pH
Watch for slug or snail damage, and control with baits or diatomaceous earth.
Hellebores are lovely with other denizens of light shade such as:
They truly enliven woodland gardens. The larger, more exuberantly colored varieties or double forms are a great addition to the shady border.
Although plants may be slow to settle in, once they do, they rarely need division and may resent it.
