Here are our lectures and events for 2017.

All lectures and workshops start at 10:00am and take place in the Farm’s lecture room located in the upper parking lot. Fees noted next to each event.

Decorate your patio or entryway the easy way! Shop for colorful annuals with a knowledgeable horticultural assistant then sit back as our staff members assemble your unique planter combo. Fees start at $45, which includes 1 decorative container, up to 5 annuals, soil and labor. Additional fees apply for extra plants, container upgrades, or multiples. This event sold out last year so reserve early. The workshop starts at 10 a.m. and takes place in the Farm’s lecture room located in the upper parking lot. Reservations are required.

Advances in the breeding of Roses means today’s varieties are easier than ever to grow. Discover exciting new offerings as well as classics that can act as workhorses in a mixed bed or a foundation planting, or stand alone to create a focal point in your garden. Growing, pruning and fertilizing tips will be discussed along with how to combine Roses with perennials and annuals for stunning displays of color in your home landscape. This workshop starts at 10 a.m. and takes place in the Farm’s lecture room located in the upper parking lot. Reservations appreciated. Free.

We’ll discuss how to use Lavender in your home gardens then you’re invited to craft a beautiful Lavender accent for a favorite spot in your home. The garden-to-table movement has gained in popularity as more of us become interested in sourcing the best and healthiest food for our families. Join us for a fun-filled morning of activities that will inspire you to grow more of your own food. We’ll start with a tantalizing cooking demonstration on the varied uses of herbs presented by chef Charlene Goodman Dutka, owner of Ciesco Catering of Torrington. Next, we’ll move to the greenhouse where you can plant your own container of kitchen herbs. We’ll finish with a savory lunch cooked fresh by our guest chef. Drinks and dessert are included. Sounds delicious! Reservations are required. Plants, container and soil provided. Fee of $50 includes the demonstration, greenhouse tour, make-and-take herb container, and lunch. This workshop starts at 10 a.m. in the Farm’s lecture room located in the upper parking lot.
