Product Details

Alchemiila mollis, or Lady's Mantle, is part of a genus of about 30 plant species, most native to the mountains of Europe, Asia, and North America. The leaves are kidney shaped, and flowers are frothy clusters of greenish yellow that appear in early summer. The long-lasting blooms are a soft, sensuous shade that blends remarkably well with a range of colors. Lovely with hardy Geraniums, Japanese Iris of every hue, and Nepetas, and any of our summer-blooming Azaleas. It also looks sensational massed on its own, creating an effect that can be sunny or demure depending on the light and surroundings.

Alchemilla mollis generally prefers partial shade, but will grow happily in full sun in the North provided the soil remains evenly moist. It labors in the heat and humidity of the South and the dry heat of the desert Southwest.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

WHEN WE SHIP

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

OUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. One Lovely Lady

FlowerChild from Boxford, Massachusetts

Lady's Mantle is the perfect front-of-the-border plant, falling gracefully onto any pathway. This is a plant which suggests softness both in color and form, but is actually tough as nails in the garden, requiring only adequate moisture. She's a cottage garden classic and looks stunning with roses, hardy geraniums and alliums. Rain beads up on the leaves, creating a sparkling effect in the morning. An added bonus, the sprays of tiny yellow flowers make excellent fillers in flower arrangements.

A wonderful surprise

Yellow Mellow from Streetsboro, Ohio

I have always admired the ladys mantle's beauty. I felt that the plants were a bit pricey but ordered anyway. When the package arrived (fast service!), I was pleasantly surprised. The plants were beautiful-healthy, robust plants and packaged very simply. I am delighted and will order again from White Flower Farm. They look beautiful in my fall garden.

None came up this spring

Carin from Oswego, NY

My star rating isn't really accurate as I don't have anything to judge. I purchased three of these, and planted them properly in 3 different locations, however, I think the stock I received was not as robust as most of what I purchase from White Flower Farm--there was very little root development in any of the three containers I received. I waited to see if any of the three came up in spring, but none did. So at some point I will try again as I really like the plant. This is the only plant material from WFF that I have ever had fail, so I didn't complain. Over all, I love this company!

Great while it lasted

Forest Gardener from Pittsboro NC

I knew & loved this plant. They are just gorgeous with a raindrop or dewdrop caught in a leaf. The ones that came were great. It was not long before the voles ate them & obviously they (the plants) never came back. Sadly they won't work in my yard. If you don't have a vole issue, get some -- lots!

overpriced

Mrs K from southern maryland

I can always count on your company to deliver a quality product, however the same quality can be found from other online retailers for a better price. I do not like to be negative but you are overpriced, Sorry but that is my opinion.

Latin Name Pronunciation: al-keh-mill'uh

Best in partial shade and moist but well-drained soil. Cut back flower stems below the canopy of leaves when the blooms look untidy. Requires even moisture and shade in the South and may not flower well there.
