Our bushy, fully-budded plants open their sweetly fragrant, white flowers in midwinter. The versatile nursery pot can be set around the house or hung near a window. Three plants, 1 to each of 3 addresses. Your gifts will be delivered with complete care instructions and your greetings enclosed.

In response to concerns from some of our customers, we have spent a great deal of time fine-tuning our shipping methods. Instead of shipping out a portion of our plants in late fall to get ahead of the cold weather, we are holding them back and allowing the buds to grow a little larger while keeping a close eye on the weather conditions. Our goal is for all of our customers to enjoy the white star-shaped blossoms and wonderful fragrance in their homes or offices.

For long bloom, Jasmine prefer cooler temperatures and bright indirect light. Make sure to water your Jasmine when only the top half inch of soil is dry.

Jasminum polyanthum is a handsome, subtropical vine whose dark green leaves provide a perfect backdrop for its January display of elegant and exquisitely fragrant white flowers. This is the perfume of the tropics, a rich, sweet scent that will fill a house or lightly carry through a southern garden. Perennial in Zones 9–10.

Please note that some care will be required to be certain of flowers in the future. For more information on growing Jasmine, click on Growing Guide.

WEATHER PERMITTING - Working with Mother Nature

In our business, we work closely with Mother Nature. In the colder months when we stipulate that an item is shipped “weather permitting”, that means temperatures outside our shipping facility in northwestern Connecticut and along the shipping route must be warm enough for tender plants to survive in unheated delivery trucks. Our practice of waiting for windows of milder weather may result in the occasional delay, but our customers tend to appreciate the care we take to make certain their plants arrive in the very best possible condition. Questions? Don’t hesitate to call our customer service staff at 1-800-411-6159.

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the Shipping Details box for each item. Please refer to the Shipping Details box to determine the earliest shipping time. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at expected time of delivery.

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-503-9624 or email us at [email protected]. Please include your order number or customer number when contacting us.

Great winter blooms

Blooms during the coldest months of winter. Does not require a lot of fussing. We have no problems and the plants last for years and rebloom better each year. Does require cool temperatures and light. We do not find they require much humidity but keep them in a lightly heated porch with many other winter bloong plants.

Wiinter Jasmine

I bought 3 winter jasmine plants as Christmas gifts - 1 in Virginia, 1 in Kansas, and 1 in California. The plant in California thrived. The other two died. I'm very disappointed as I understood these are no-maintenance. My first surprise was all the humidity, temperature and light controls. Since we have heat on in the cooler temperatures (Kansas and Virginia) it was too warm inside (needed 65 degrees), and apparently not humid enough either. So, I kept it on the porch where it would only get sheltered light and below 65 degrees. I called White Flower Farm to get advice when it looked like it wasn't doing well and the phone answerer suggested giving it more humidity? I'm not sure how to do that since there were also instructions not to let it get too moist. So, It was a mistake to buy these as gifts. I'm very disappointed.

The plant is pretty. The fragrance upset my dog causing him to urinate near plant. The fragrance was not what was promised :( I purchased the plant solely for the fragrance.

Short Cycle Blooms..

Am a little disappointed, plant flowers did fine during the holidays..but seems to have gone in a "dormant" stage..still green and healthy looking, is in a cool sunny room, but has stopped blooming, and no buds..should I fertilize already? Was nice blooming during the holidays..and love the fragrance...the others I sent for gifts were well received...

The cultural requirements of Jasmine (Jasminum polyanthum) are simple but exacting. When your plant arrives, put it in a cool room and set it in a window that receives bright light but little or no direct sun. Flowers will open and last longer with cooler home temperatures.

Watering: Water only when the top half inch of the potting mix is dry to the touch; Jasmine won't tolerate soggy potting mix. If these conditions are met, flowering generally begins in late January or early February.

Jasmines are also sensitive to the dryness created by radiators, hot-air vents, and wood-burning stoves. Here are some ways to increase the humidity around your plants:

  • Run a humidifier nearby.
  • Set plants in trays filled with pebbles or gravel. Add water to a level just below the tops of the pebbles (if the potting mix in the pots comes in contact with the water, the mix will draw water into the pot, which will cause the mix to become saturated, eventually leading to rot). Refill trays frequently to replace water lost through evaporation.
  • We offer Humiditrays that perform the same function as above without the need for pebbles.

After your plant blooms:

  • Give your plant at least 6 hours of direct sun and normal room temperatures.
  • When the danger of frost has passed, we recommend that you set the plant outdoors for the summer, shifting it gradually from a shady spot to full sun.
  • Fertilize every 2-4 weeks during the growing season -- generally from early spring to early fall. Withhold fertilizer entirely during fall and winter, when the plant is resting. Use a water-soluble fertilizer designed for houseplants mixed at just half the rate suggested by the manufacturer. As with watering, plants suffer if overfertilized.
  • Prune as necessary to control size or to maintain shape, but stop pruning by August 1, because the plant sets flower buds in late summer.
  • To encourage the formation of flower buds for next winter, be sure your plant experiences the cooler temperatures and shorter days of early autumn. The plant needs 4-5 weeks of nighttime temperatures between 40 and 50°F, plenty of sunlight, and the complete absence of artificial light after sundown. Bring the plant indoors before frost. Then give it cool temperatures and indirect light until it blooms again in late winter.
