Classics never go out of style. Lovely, award-winning Azalea 'Cecile' is one of the renowned Knap Hill/Exbury hybrids. Bred by Lionel de Rothschild and introduced in 1947, the upright, deciduous shrub produces a late spring display of coral-pink blossoms with pronounced yellow highlights. The coronet-shaped flowers appear in dense round clusters. The foliage changes color in autumn. Winner of the 2007 Rhododendron of the Year award from the American Rhododendron Society.

Rhododendron is a genus of evergreen and deciduous shrubs, which includes Azaleas. These lovely shrubs look terrific in a mixed border or in foundation plantings. All thrive in full sun or partial shade (required in the South) and evenly moist, acid soil.

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. Well packaged, healthy plant full of buds!

Very pleased with my purchase. The plant arrived safely and has 4 branches coming out from the base with at least 2 buds on each branch. The color of the open blooms is beautiful! Planted about 2 weeks after arriving in April and I am hopeful it will settle into it's new site!

Amazing shipping

This plant came healthy, very well packed, and even with some blooms on it! 1000x better than bare root or other orders iv made though other places! This is a small bush not a cutting, graphing, or bare root! I'm in love.

Cecile Azaleas!

I received the two bushes I ordered yesterday. They were beautifully packaged and arrived in perfect condition. I took them out of the package and put them in a shady location to acclimate, and watered them well. They were full of big fat buds which will be blooming soon, so I am thrilled that I will get to see the flowers for the first time shortly. They appear to be very healthy, which is true of everything I've ever ordered from White Flower Farms over the years. Thank you for such beautiful nursery stock.

Latin Name Pronunciation: roe-doe-den'-dron

Rhododendrons and Azaleas grow in full sun or partial shade in the North, but prefer partial shade or shade in the South and in warm inland areas of the West. They require moisture-retentive but well-drained soil that is on the acidic side. Turn a healthy layer of organic matter into the soil before planting. Gardeners in the Deep South and West who have heavy clay soil should plant Rhododendrons so that the top of the root ball stands several inches above the surrounding soil, then push prepared soil around and just over the root ball to form a mound. Mulch after planting to keep roots cool and moist.

Removing spent flowers (tedious but rewarding work on large specimens) makes for a better show the following spring; take care when removing flowers not to damage new buds at the base of the old flower stems. Prune as needed after bloom, cutting just above a set of leaves.

Deciduous and evergreen Rhododendrons are ideal for shrub borders, mixed perennial and shrub borders, and foundation plantings.

Not recommended for desert areas.
