In nature, mature plants produce large, often fragrant, night-blooming flowers that are pollinated by moths (or sometimes bats), followed by fleshy fruits. Like other cacti, members of the \u003cem\u003eCereus\u003c\/em\u003e genus store water in their tissues and are exceedingly drought-tolerant. Species grown as houseplants are easy, low-care plants that thrive in dry, heated interiors.
