Product Details
Say goodbye to common watering problems, including wilting plant foliage and root rot, using the ingenious Sustee®, a patented Japanese device that allows you to monitor soil moisture accurately and effortlessly. Designed to use at home, Sustee® is the first-ever moisture sensor to indicate the available water capacity (pF) within the soil. Sustee® shows the roots’ capacity to absorb water—the plant’s “thirst”—in a clear, easy-to-interpret window. Simply insert Sustee® into the soil, water the plant, and then observe: When the window reads blue, the soil is sufficiently moist, and when it reads white, it’s time to water. Available in medium and large sizes, with 2 replacement filters.
The core of each Sustee® Soil Sensor does the job of sensing the moisture level in a plant or garden and indicating, by turning blue, that a plant has sufficient water. Because the sensors are made entirely from natural fibers that decompose over time, they will periodically need to be replaced at a rate of once every six to 12 months, depending on your soil type. (You’ll know it’s time to replace a core when it stops turning blue after you water.) Sustee core refills are easy to install, and they are a helpful ally in maintaining the health of your plants. Installation instructions are included. Set of two replacement filters are included.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED
The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.
