Create a forest vignette in holiday hues of green, gold, scarlet, and ivory with our Winter Woodland Dish Garden kit. A spectacular specimen of Christmas Rose serves as your focal point, tossing up pristine white blossoms that contrast beautifully against deep green foliage. Nestle it alongside the miniature Sawara Cypress, whose golden threads will accentuate the flowers’ cheerful yellow centers. Tuck in the clumps of Creeping Wintergreen for a final holiday touch. The edible red berries and glossy leaves exude a wintergreen scent when crushed.

Our complete kit includes:

  • 1 Hellebore plant
  • 2 Gaultheria procumbens (Creeping Wintergreen)
  • 1 Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Golden Mop' (Sawara Cypress)
  • White metal cachepot, approximately 12" wide x 6" tall, with bulb pan liner
  • 1 coir disc (in lieu of potting soil)
  • Instructions for planting your dish garden and caring for your plants

WEATHER PERMITTING - Working with Mother Nature

In our business, we work closely with Mother Nature. In the colder months when we stipulate that an item is shipped “weather permitting”, that means temperatures outside our shipping facility in northwestern Connecticut and along the shipping route must be warm enough for tender plants to survive in unheated delivery trucks. Our practice of waiting for windows of milder weather may result in the occasional delay, but our customers tend to appreciate the care we take to make certain their plants arrive in the very best possible condition. Questions? Don’t hesitate to call our customer service staff at 1-800-411-6159.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

WHEN WE SHIP

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

OUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-503-9624 or email us at [email protected]. Please include your order number or customer number when contacting us.

EASY STEPS TO PLANT YOUR BOWL OR DISH GARDEN
1. Unpack your package carefully and place all of the contents on a flat work surface.
2. If your dish garden kit arrives without additional potting mix or soil, simply leave your plants in their pots and arrange them in the large bowl. Follow the care instructions below and on our website.
3. If your dish garden kit contains potting mix, place the mix in a separate container, and add water until the mix is moist but not soggy.
3. Place the moistened mix in the planter until it is about 3⁄4 full and make holes in the soil for your plants.
4. Remove the plants from their pots and set them in the holes so that the tops of the plants are level with the surface of the mix.
5. Push soil around and just over the tops of the root balls and press lightly to firm the soil.
6. If your dish garden contains an Amaryllis bulb, fill in around the bulb with potting mix, adjusting the position of the bulb so that the top ⅓ of the bulb is exposed.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Take care not to overwater your dish garden. Water gently when the potting mix is dry 1" below the surface.
2. Place your plants indoors near an east or shaded west window where they will receive bright indirect light. A south-facing window is satisfactory if the plants are not against the glass. Please note: Amaryllis plants tend to be taller when grown under lower light conditions.
