Product Details

The light pleasing fragrance that drifts from its soft mauve flowers adds to the allure of Nemesia fruticans Aromance® Pink, which was bred to bloom throughout the season. Standing 10–18" tall, the mini-Snapdragon-like blossoms like sun to part shade conditions. A Proven Winners® variety. PP 32,656

Nemesias are a group of about 60 species of plants mostly native to southern Africa. The diverse genus comprises annuals, tender perennials, and subshrubs with a primarily bushy habit, opposite leaves, and distinctive, two-lipped flowers with four lobes on the top and two lobes on the bottom. The numerous annual cultivars, mainly deriving from one or two species, are commonly used in the U.S. as bedding plants and container fillers. Plants perform especially well where daytime temperatures are moderate and evenings are cool. In the heat and humidity of summer, flowers may subside for a time before returning in autumn as conditions ease.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

WHEN WE SHIP

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

OUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-503-9624 or email us at [email protected]. Please include your order number or customer number when contacting us.

Lovely low maintenance annual

I ordered this plant after watching a program on fragrant flowers, had never heard of it before. When it arrived (in perfect condition, White Flower Farm is always great quality) it had a few flowers already and I leaned in to enjoy the fragrance. And was disappointed when there was none. But keep reading... because somehow this plant doesn't smell of much up close...and yet it will drift across for a WONDERFUL scent a few feet away and beyond.
It flowered profusely all spring, struggled a bit in the height of summer (might partly be me not watering it as well as I should) and then flowered all fall. It's been through several low 30's f nights now and it's still flowering in mid Nov!
Keep in mind it's on my back deck so that's probably helped as I know it's not going to make it through a winter here.
But I'm putting it in my greenhouse to see how it fares because I LOVE this plant and it's fragrance. One of the few annuals I would buy again and again. Highly recommend you try it!

Latin Name Pronunciation: neh-mee' see-uh

Nemesias are a group of about 60 species of plants mostly native to southern Africa. A few of these species are annuals that are commonly used in the U.S. as bedding plants and in containers. Plants thrive in full sun to part shade and moist, well-drained soil that is enriched with organic matter (such as compost) and a layer of mulch to keep the soil cool. They are cool weather annuals that perform and flower best when daytime temperatures are moderate, and evenings are cool. In hotter regions, plants benefit from afternoon shade, especially where nighttime temperatures remain in the upper 70’s and above. In the heat and humidity of summer, if the air and soil around the plants become too hot, flowers may subside. If this happens, a light cutting back might be helpful to increase branching and promote new flowering once the weather cools in autumn, or plants can be removed. Deadheading is not necessary, as plants are self-cleaning, and pruning only needs to be done to shape plants, if desired. No serious insect or disease problems. Perennial in Zones 9-10.
