Tubular blossoms in a rich, velvety red appear in profusion on Nicotiana alata 'Crimson Bedder' plants that are suitable for the edge or middle of the border. The sweetly fragrant flowers blossom steadily all summer.

Nicotiana is a tropical genus that includes Tobacco as a member, and all of its 70-odd species are fragrant in flower, or leaf, or both. Plants have luminous flowers, which often open in the evening for many weeks during the summer and into fall. Grow in average, well-drained soil.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

WHEN WE SHIP

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

OUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-503-9624 or email us at [email protected]. Please include your order number or customer number when contacting us.

Genuinely stupendous!

A viewer from Charlottesville, VA

I have ordered many types of Nicotiana from this grower and others, but the 'Crimson Bedder' is absolutely impressive. I will pre-order again next year. The flowers are deep red and bloom in a great coordinated mass, also the plant itself is much more robust and a darker green than the paler shade Nicotianas. I am extremely pleased. I have always had luck with all Nicotianas but this year I took on many lessons learned from growing them here in the peak of Southern summers. Mine are in a huge patio container. Bright shade is best, (I have only morning sun on them), and I frequently water with highly diluted standard plant food. The blooming has been non-stop.

Incredible

A viewer from St Petersburg, FL

I'm surprised that no one has submitted a review of this incredibly awesome jewel (as of Aug. 2018). It arrived with the flowering stem broken, but that didn't matter. In days, it was sprouting blooms. The colors vary depending on their age, from bright magenta to pinkish. The best thing is that this gorgeous plant has withstood monsoon rainstorms alternating with drought. Relentless rain for 3 days, no rain for 5. Sprightly & fresh looking at all times. It's such a joy.

A tropical genus that has Tobacco as its most widely known member, but all the 70-odd species are fragrant in flower or leaf, or both. Their pale, luminous flowers often open in the evening, so tuck plants in near a door or window to get their Jasmine-like perfume indoors. Give them full sun or partial shade, and grow in well-drained soil enriched with organic matter, such as compost or peat moss.
