Thalictrum delavayi 'Hewitt's Double'

The tiny flowers of Thalictrum delavayi 'Hewitt's Double' are fully double, pure lilac, with pale yellow stamens, and come in clouds from midsummer to early fall. It's a display of amazing delicacy that is enhanced by a graceful, 4' plant whose lacy foliage recalls Maidenhair Ferns. The plant sways gently in the slightest breeze.

The genus Thalictrum, in the amazingly diverse Buttercup family, includes some 130 species, most of them northerners. The form of the flower varies from species to species, but all are small and delicate and are generally carried on tall, slender stems that produce a delightful, airy effect. For best performance, give them partial shade in rich soil with plenty of moisture, but don't be scared off by this list—they're not fussy.

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.
