Product Details

Trillium grandiflorum 'Flore Pleno' is an uncommon and exceptionally beautiful woodland perennial prized for its elegant, fully double white flowers that resemble small rose blooms. It thrives in rich, moist, well-drained soil with dappled shade, making it an ideal choice for naturalized woodland gardens. This cultivar is slow to establish and multiply but is well worth the gardener’s patience.

The genus Trillium comprises a group of woodland perennials native primarily to North America and parts of Asia, known for their distinctive three-petaled flowers and whorled sets of three leaves. Trilliums thrive in shaded, deciduous forests with rich, moist, well-drained soil, and are often considered indicators of healthy, mature woodland ecosystems. These long-lived plants are slow to establish but can form impressive colonies over time, offering a graceful, naturalistic presence in the spring garden.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

WHEN WE SHIP

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. Nothing....

A viewer from Connecticut

I planted the two roots I purchased immediately upon receipt. I followed directions, but zero growth after waiting nearly a month. Really nothing--I would give zero stars if I could. I had been a loyal customer but disappointed, especially since trillium is expensive.

I am very sorry the Trillium did not grow for you as expected. I have refunded the cost of item back to your method of payment. The WFF Horticulturalist has emailed you with growing suggestions and extended an invitation to call her to chat about the Trillium.

Didn't grow

A viewer from Oiho

I planted the bulb the day in early Spring when it arrived in the mail. It is in an optimal spot for growth. That's been quite a while now, and I've seen no sign of growth yet. I plan to dig it up, but I suspect it's just rotted by now.

Great Plants

A viewer from TN

I ordered from White Flower Farm for the first time about a week ago. I was a little skeptical because of the questionable Google reviews. I placed an order maybe two weeks ago and my this Trillium came in within a few days of placing my order. Excited I opened the package as soon as I got home from work. To be honest it didn't look like much, but it was well packaged. I planted it in the evening, woke up the next morning, and I couldn't believe my eyes when it had already started pushing out growth. A week later this Trillium is appx. 3 inches tall with two stems. I am thrilled with this cultivar and moreover the quality White Flower Farm seems to carry. I will definitely order from here again!

Trillium Grandiflorum Flore Pleno - Nice Plant!

A viewer from Eastern Massachusetts

This plant arrived as a bare root and bloomed the first year. It bloomed the second year, but has not spread. Still looks great! :)

Latin Name Pronunciation: trill'ee-um

Trillium is at home in woodland conditions: partial shade or shade cast by deciduous trees and moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil with a neutral to slightly acid pH. Improve sandy and heavy clay soils with compost and mulch in spring to help keep the soil evenly moist. Plants go dormant by midsummer.

Interplant with Ferns or Hostas, which fill gaps that the Trilliums leave behind. Mark the location of the Trilliums to avoid damaging their roots when digging late in the season. If you can't tell top from bottom, plant the rootstock horizontally.
