HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

WHEN WE SHIP

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

OUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. Australian Fern Tree

I was very excited when this fern tree arrived a few weeks ago, but like the reviewer from Arkansas, our fern is drooping and shriveling up as well. I've pretty diligent about care/watering etc. and have a note into WFF horticulturalist, Karen, in the hopes that she can help us to save this fern. More to follow....

So disappointed

These ferns shriveled up and died within 2 weeks of arriving even though I had them inside and was tending to them. It's really upsetting because they were gorgeous. I wasn't able to plant them or place them in their pots before they died because all of the planters I ordered from WFF have been delayed, delayed, delayed. It's infuriating how many plants from my orders have died while I have been waiting on the planters. It's not like I have a greenhouse to store them in while I wait months for the planters. Unfortunately, these ferns didn't last at all and now they are sold out. Really upsetting.

My 2019 ATF performed beautifully

I ordered the Australian tree fern in spring 2019 from WFF. It was good sized on arrival, healthy and vigorous, and it grew very well in a large pot (this guy gets big) in a semi-shady area on our patio. I have a small greenhouse where it's now spending the winter. Definitely recommend the ATF if you want a slightly exotic, semi-tropical look. Pest free and easy to take care of.

Even more beautiful than I had hoped!

The Australian tree fern that I ordered arrived the other afternoon and I was thrilled to see that it is even more beautiful than I had hoped. It's a quite large tree fern and was packed perfectly. Not a single leaf was misaligned during shipment which is quite a feat! All of the plants that I ordered from White Flower Farm arrived in perfect condition and I cannot recommend them enough.

Print Grow Guide

Palms are attractive ornamentals throughout the world in tropical or Mediterranean-like climates. Many are easy-to-grow houseplants in colder regions and will produce new glossy, dark green leaves each year. The mature plant height of our houseplants reflects what we expect the plant to grow under normal houseplant conditions. The instructions below are for growing indoors.

LIGHT: Provide your plant with plenty of light near a south- or west-facing window.

WATERING: Water thoroughly when the surface of the soil mix is dry to the touch. Plants require less water during the winter months when they are not actively growing.

TEMPERATURE: Provide room temperatures above 50°F.

FERTILIZER: When plants are in active growth from April through September, use a balanced (18-18-18) houseplant fertilizer monthly, diluted to half strength.
