Product Details

Long cherished by plant collectors, Heptacodium miconioides Temple of Bloom® is a small, easy-care, ornamental tree that makes a stunning addition to any landscape. This Seven-Son Flower has toasty brown peeling bark. In spring, deeply veined green foliage emerges, the leaves gradually gaining in size and twisting at the tips. In late summer, just as many garden plants are subsiding for the season, this tree produces generously sized clusters of fragrant white flowers that attract hummingbirds and other pollinators. After the flowers fall, rosy-red sepals create the effect of a second bloom lasting for 2 to 3 weeks. A Proven Winners® variety. PP 30,763

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

WHEN WE SHIP

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

OUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-503-9624 or email us at [email protected]. Please include your order number or customer number when contacting us.

Heptacodium

I’ve been keen on having one of these for a number of years and finally got one. It arrived healthy and promptly sprouted healthy leaves. It’s grown from about 18 inches to 6 feet in 3 1/2 yrs. Bark is shedding and flowering for the first time. I’m impressed with this unusual specimen tree and glad I decided on adding it to the landscape!

As close to a carefree plant there is

A viewer from Eden NY

I have 2 of these, one I let be the showpiece of my garden as a tree, the other I keep as a small shrub. The flowers are gloriously fragrant and scent my whole garden. Even hummingbirds come for the nectar as well as many pollinators.

7 Son Shrub/Tree

A viewer from Simsbury, CT

This is a beautiful shrub/small tree. It is long blooming during the late summer and early fall when other shrubs have already bloomed. It attracts hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. The bark is quite showy too. This is a show piece in any garden.

This is a beautiful small sized tree. It blooms later in the season around August/September with thousands of fragrant white flowers attracting pollinators. It is really a show specimen tree.
