Few flowers can compare with the grace and beauty of the Siberian Iris. The name of our 12-plant collection, Wings over Water, was inspired by the structure of these enchanting flowers. Their arching standards and undulating falls, carried on strong stems above grassy, blue-green leaves, flutter in the softest breeze like exotic seabirds playing the wind off an imaginary shore. What's more, no plants are more rugged and reliable.

Given full sun or partial shade and average to damp soil, Siberian Iris form large clumps that bloom heavily after the first year. Because no garden should be without these beauties and no garden can have too many, we're offering 3 plants each of 4 different varieties — in purple, two shades of blue, and white with yellow — at an irresistible price. Cluster them together or sprinkle them through the perennial border. You can't go wrong. 12 plants. Each variety labeled. They will cover approximately 48 sq ft. Bareroot.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

WHEN WE SHIP

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

OUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-503-9624 or email us at [email protected]. Please include your order number or customer number when contacting us.

The gift that keeps on giving

A viewer from Boston, MA

I ordered this collection almost twenty years ago. The blooms are beautiful, and the foliage stays a glossy green throughout the summer. They have thrived in places in my garden where nothing else will grow. Divide every few years, and soon you will have more than enough plants for your garden and all your neighbors.

So far so good!

A viewer from Chicago

I ordered two collections on sale in late fall...couldn’t resist. Didn’t get them into the ground until weather had turned cold. I was pessimistic but all but one have good leaves poking up despite some soggy conditions. Keeping an eye on them but hopeful!

Surprise!

A viewer from Seaford DE

I planted these last year(spring) and didn’t see any thing growing. We had a lot of rain all winter, so I was losing hope. This year they started shooting up, and surprise! They did me proud, and are blooming like crazy! I had a hard time separating the bulbs from the shredded paper they came in, but perhaps that helped. Anyway, they are beautiful and I am pleased with the results.

Very disappointing

A viewer from Franklin, TN

I’ve ordered many things on and off from White Flower Farm for many years, and have been very satisfied - until now. I planted this iris collection upon its arrival in early October. Much to my disappointment, only 1/3 of the bulbs did much of anything at all as the leaves were not very plentiful, and there was only one bloom all spring. Iris have flourished in that spot for years so I was very disappointed.

Choose a site in a sunny area where the soil is evenly moist. Siberian Iris will tolerate partial shade, and established plants will withstand dry spells, but full sun and moist soil yield the best results. Partial shade is required in warm inland areas of the West. Note that plants may grow so large in 4–5 years that moving or dividing them becomes difficult.

Using a trowel or shovel, dig the planting holes, spacing them according to the suggestions provided on your labels or cultural sheet. Set the roots in the holes, push soil back into the holes, covering the tops of the somewhat woody rhizomes with no more than 1″ of soil. Firm the soil by pushing down with both hands to eliminate air pockets. Finally, water thoroughly.

Please note: Bareroot plants dry out quickly once they are removed from their packaging. We strongly recommend that you keep the roots covered with packing material until you are ready to plant.
