Product Details

Few flowers can compare with the grace and beauty of the Siberian Iris. The name of our 12-plant collection, Wings over Water, was inspired by the structure of these enchanting flowers. Their arching standards and undulating falls, carried on strong stems above grassy, blue-green leaves, flutter in the softest breeze like exotic seabirds playing the wind off an imaginary shore. What's more, no plants are more rugged and reliable.

Given full sun or partial shade and average to damp soil, Siberian Iris form large clumps that bloom heavily after the first year. Because no garden should be without these beauties and no garden can have too many, we're offering 3 plants each of 4 different varieties — in purple, two shades of blue, and white — at an irresistible price. Cluster them together or sprinkle them through the perennial border. You can't go wrong. 12 plants. Each variety labeled. They will cover approximately 48 sq ft. Bareroot.

Shipping Info

We want our customers to receive strong, healthy plants that are ready to thrive in their gardens and homes. Here's what we'd like you to know about our shipping practices.

Delivery Timing

We aim to deliver your plants at as close to the proper time for planting in your area as possible. To do so, we consider the USDA Hardiness Zone to which we're shipping, current and forecasted weather at the destination and along the shipping route, and whether your plants are ready for transplant.

In spring, we ship first to the warmest regions and move north as planting conditions improve. For fall deliveries, we begin with the coolest regions and work south. We frequently adjust shipping schedules when extreme weather could put plants at risk while in transit or soon after arrival.

Because different plants reach readiness at different rates and are weather-sensitive in varying degree, a single order may be delivered via multiple shipments. Plants sold as part of a collection, or that are otherwise meant to arrive together, will be shipped together. Please contact our customer service team with two weeks' advance notice if you anticipate being away at the expected time of delivery.

Tracking information for each package is delivered via email.

Plant & Container Sizes

We deliver plants in various sizes and stages of growth, and the product detail pages of our website indicate the form and/or pot size in which the plant will be delivered. Pot sizes range from 1 pint to 1 gallon and larger. Many perennials, roses, shrubs and vines are delivered bareroot - that is, not in a container at all. Bulbs and tubers are generally delivered bareroot and fully dormant. We choose container sizes and delivery methods based on how each plant grows best, how we can minimize transplant shock, and how to minimize unnecessary bulk/weight in shipment.

Caring for Your Plants Upon Arrival

It is important to acclimate greenhouse-grown plants to life outdoors. All plant shipments include simple instructions for handling your plants upon arrival. Further how-to information, including planting instructions, is available on each plant's product page.

Growing Guide

Choose a site in a sunny area where the soil is evenly moist. Siberian Iris will tolerate partial shade, and established plants will withstand dry spells, but full sun and moist soil yield the best results. Partial shade is required in warm inland areas of the West. Note that plants may grow so large in 4–5 years that moving or dividing them becomes difficult.

Using a trowel or shovel, dig the planting holes, spacing them according to the suggestions provided on your labels or cultural sheet. Set the roots in the holes, push soil back into the holes, covering the tops of the somewhat woody rhizomes with no more than 1″ of soil. Firm the soil by pushing down with both hands to eliminate air pockets. Finally, water thoroughly.

Please note: Bareroot plants dry out quickly once they are removed from their packaging. We strongly recommend that you keep the roots covered with packing material until you are ready to plant.

All purple blooms, no variation.

"Finally bloomed beautifully this year after purchasing and planting fall of 2023, establishing themselves and finally blooming.....they are dark purple. Very healthy, lots of gorgeous blooms but all purple, even the clump that I kept with its label of "Cape Cod Boys". Disappointed with the lack of variety, especially as I had been going to expand this section of the garden and had been going to select more bearded irises and reblooming bearded irises in the darker colours. Now there will be little contrasting effect unless I totally change my plan."

Mostly Dark Purple

"I ordered 2x of this mix and concur with one of the other reviewers that I mostly got dark purple. I only have 3 light blues and zero whites. Would post picture if it allowed me."

Nathalie M. (3/5)

Stunning!

"Received this as a sympathy gift from dear friends. They could not have chosen better. The lavender plant is large and smells fantastic, and looks great in the natural basket. I will certainly remember to order from White Flower Farms in the future. I am very pleased."

Very Little Fragrance, Very Dirty

"Mine arrived in bloom. But had very little fragrance. Customer Support said it might take a few days for it to achieve normal fragrance, but I didn’t see any improvement. And it shed a great number of dead blooms. I was constantly vacuuming them up. Bottom line – I’ve given up on it."

Received all one color iris

"I bought this collection 2 years ago and finally got blooms this spring. The plants are healthy and doing well, except every single plant I received is blooming dark purple. They are gorgeous, but I'm a little disappointed that they are all the same. No complaints at all about shipping or the quality of plants, just the color."

Only Half Terrific

"I purchased the Sylvia Sorbet Dahlia Duo (Sylvia and Pink Sylvia) last spring. Tubers arrived in good condition. I planted them as appropriate with other dahlias. The Pink Sylvia was the star of my garden this season. It was fantastic and had a terrific yield. Unfortunately, the Syliva did not even sprout. Given the production of my Pink Sylvia and my other dahlias in the same bed, I do not think this can be chalked up to user error. This tuber was a total dud."

Healthy blooming plant

"The plant arrived in perfect shape. The packing was well thought out to avoid damage in transit. This plant is larger than I expected, and it is gorgeous. The seagrass basket is sturdy and lined so water cannot escape. The plant is loaded with spikes and I am already enjoying the wonderful scent."

Just one drawback

"My jasmine arrived safely and quickly began setting blossoms. It began to flower this morning, and I am very happy with it. The only disappointment is the grapevine basket, which is broken in places. Since I paid an extra $20 to have the basket, I am disappointed. But the plant seems to be great, and is as big as a raccoon."

Wrong tubers sent

"I ordered the cafe au lait trio for the second time and this year I got three of the deep pink/purple tubers, but not the other two. This is the third year in the row I've receieved the wrong dahlia tubers or the wrong colors. The dahlias are beautiful and I like White Flower Farm, but I'm tired of not getting what I ordered."
