Product Details

Anemone sylvestris is an Old World perennial that bears masses of glistening white, fragrant blooms in May with repeat bloom during the cool days of early fall. The simple flowers are carried on 18″ stems and look lovely in bright woodlands or the sunny wild gardens where this plant belongs. Try it as an underplanting for Asiatic Lilies; it will extend the Lilies' season of bloom and shade their feet from the hot sun. A. sylvestris is a vigorous spreader, but that's no vice with looks like these. As with other 'near-wild' plants, it is not fussy about soil and is pest-free. The only thing it can't endure is desert heat.

Shipping Info

We want our customers to receive strong, healthy plants that are ready to thrive in their gardens and homes. Here's what we'd like you to know about our shipping practices.

Delivery Timing

We aim to deliver your plants at as close to the proper time for planting in your area as possible. To do so, we consider the USDA Hardiness Zone to which we're shipping, current and forecasted weather at the destination and along the shipping route, and whether your plants are ready for transplant.

In spring, we ship first to the warmest regions and move north as planting conditions improve. For fall deliveries, we begin with the coolest regions and work south. We frequently adjust shipping schedules when extreme weather could put plants at risk while in transit or soon after arrival.

Because different plants reach readiness at different rates and are weather-sensitive in varying degree, a single order may be delivered via multiple shipments. Plants sold as part of a collection, or that are otherwise meant to arrive together, will be shipped together. Please contact our customer service team with two weeks' advance notice if you anticipate being away at the expected time of delivery

Tracking information for each package is delivered via email.

Plant & Container Sizes

We deliver plants in various sizes and stages of growth, and the product detail pages of our website indicate the form and/or pot size in which the plant will be delivered. Pot sizes range from 1 pint to 1 gallon and larger. Many perennials, roses, shrubs and vines are delivered bareroot - that is, not in a container at all. Bulbs and tubers are generally delivered bareroot and fully dormant. We choose container sizes and delivery methods based on how each plant grows best, how we can minimize transplant shock, and how to minimize unnecessary bulk/weight in shipment.

Caring for Your Plants Upon Arrival

It is important to acclimate greenhouse-grown plants to life outdoors. All plant shipments include simple instructions for handling your plants upon arrival. Further how-to information, including planting instructions, is available on each plant's product page.

I love it!

"I bought this plant 2 years ago. Alone it didn't look much, but along with an anemone Jobert and ornamental grass it made a perfect corner in my front yard. One year in, it started looking fuller, and 2 years after it is spreading and naturalizing. The blooms are so delicate and lovely."

So strong for such a dainty flower

"In zone 5b/6a, I have great success with these petite beauties. I don't find that they spread out much on me, honestly I would like that given their comfort with the conditions in my yard. 2020 was the second year for mine and they only bloomed in the spring. I'm curious to see if they will continue to improve as my soil conditions improve."

Worth the money!

"This cute flower did not bloom the first year and I was disappointed. However, the second year the original plant bloomed nicely and it spread significantly. It's a pretty, bright white, delicate flower which I can see easily from a distance against it's green woodland background. I definitely recommend it."

effortless,hardy,delicate looking beauty

"This is one of my favorites! It blooms early in the season and the blooms are so fresh and pretty after months of cold. It's hardy and spreads like crazy. The flowers remind me of tiny poppies. They are cute and cheerful. The habit of this plant is very generous. It gets around!"

spectacular blooms

"I never get tired of looking at these blooms. I purchased my plant from WFF over 20 years ago, and now have divided, transplanted and gifted this plant many times over. Not only does it bloom for me in spring and fall, it also blooms in mid summer! The contrast of the white flower with yellow center and the beautiful green leaves makes it a perfect plant. The deer never touch it, another plus."
