A magnificent Hibiscus variety, 'Starry Starry Night' produces a mound of very dark foliage, which serves as a dramatic backdrop for its eye-catching blooms. The soft pink flowers are quite large, up to 8″ across, and have contrasting red eyes. Plant this hummingbird magnet in a special spot where you can appreciate the blossoms up close. PP 27,901
Hibiscus is a huge genus of more than 200 species, practically all native to tropical areas. If you're the type who goes for minuscule flowers, then this is not a genus for you. The plants produce big bright flowers that appear endlessly starting in high summer. Give them moist, well-drained soil and plenty of heat and sun. Stems will die down to the ground over winter in colder climates.

Delivery Timing
We aim to deliver your plants at as close to the proper time for planting in your area as possible. To do so, we consider the USDA Hardiness Zone to which we're shipping, current and forecasted weather at the destination and along the shipping route, and whether your plants are ready for transplant.
In spring, we ship first to the warmest regions and move north as planting conditions improve. For fall deliveries, we begin with the coolest regions and work south. We frequently adjust shipping schedules when extreme weather could put plants at risk while in transit or soon after arrival.
Because different plants reach readiness at different rates and are weather-sensitive in varying degree, a single order may be delivered via multiple shipments. Plants sold as part of a collection, or that are otherwise meant to arrive together, will be shipped together. Please contact our customer service team with two weeks' advance notice if you anticipate being away at the expected time of delivery.

Plant & Container Sizes
We deliver plants in various sizes and stages of growth, and the product detail pages of our website indicate the form and/or pot size in which the plant will be delivered. Pot sizes range from 1 pint to 1 gallon and larger. Many perennials, roses, shrubs and vines are delivered bareroot - that is, not in a container at all. Bulbs and tubers are generally delivered bareroot and fully dormant. We choose container sizes and delivery methods based on how each plant grows best, how we can minimize transplant shock, and how to minimize unnecessary bulk/weight in shipment.

Growing Guide
Latin Name Pronunciation: hye-bis'kus
Hibiscus is a huge genus of more than 200 species which includes a diverse bunch of annuals, perennials, and shrubs, both tender and hardy.
Rose of Sharon
A shrub valued for its late summer bloom. It enjoys full sun and average garden soil that drains well. Space 4–8′ apart, depending on the variety. Prune in early spring. It may take two or three years to begin flowering. Medium growth rate of 12–24″ yearly, depending on growing conditions.
Swamp-rose Mallow (Rose Mallow)
A hardy perennial plant growing to 3–4′. It wants full sun and evenly moist, organically rich soil. Space 2–3′ apart. It is one of the latest plants to break dormancy in spring, often not appearing until late May or early June, so be sure to mark its location carefully to avoid disturbing it before it begins to grow. Stems may be cut down to ground level either in fall, or in early spring.
Tropical Hibiscus
Grow in full sun for best foliage color; plants may require staking if grown in partial shade, and their color will be less vibrant. (Plants grow best in the partial shade in the West.) Plant in moist but well drained soil. Pinch plants to encourage them to be bushy and more compact. Feed every 2 weeks with a water soluble, 15-30-15 fertilizer, which is formulated specifically for annuals. Hardy to Zone 10 (30°F) but not long lived. Plants can be overwintered indoors in a sunny, south-facing window.
