Wanderlust - Narcissus & Muscari Mix, 98 bulbs

This beguiling Wanderlust Mix of fragrant Narcissus 'Sailboat' and Grape Hyacinth (Muscari armeniacum) remains a favorite of ours. The Daffodil 'Sailboat' offers a sea of white petals and pale yellow cups, with each bulb producing 3-5 stems bearing 1-3 flowers per stem. The Grape Hyacinth provides dense, scented spikes of cobalt blue to further color your adventure. The latter is superb when planted en masse and allowed to self sow. We include 48 bulbs of 'Sailboat' and 50 bulbs of M. armeniacum. Both prosper in warmer regions, including Zone 8 in the Deep South. Covers about 5 sq ft. Exclusive.

These vigorous, long-lived bulbs thrive joyously in sunny, well-drained places, are shunned by hungry deer and voles, and will thrive and multiply with little care on your part, creating a glorious horticultural legacy.

Muscari, commonly known as Grape Hyacinths, are high on the list of accommodating, simple-to-grow, durable bulbs. Quick to spread, they're a perfect choice to create a carpet of soft blue beneath yellow or white Daffodils, early pink Tulips, or fountains of bold yellow Forsythia. Many species are blessed with a soft perfume that's especially noticeable on warm days. They're also long blooming, as it takes time for the flowers to elongate from tight clusters to more open arrangements reminiscent of tiny hyacinths. Because Muscari are often grown en masse and their flowers are small, it's easy to miss how beautiful and intricate they are. Muscari are easy to force indoors, so you can enjoy their flower spikes up close without having to get on hands and knees.

Muscari are unusual because leaves sprout in the fall. Don't worry - this is completely normal, and the buds will flower on schedule the following spring. Take advantage of this and use Muscari to outline beds of bulbs so you can find them to fertilize, or to replant your Tulip display.

Delivery Timing

We aim to deliver your plants at as close to the proper time for planting in your area as possible. To do so, we consider the USDA Hardiness Zone to which we're shipping, current and forecasted weather at the destination and along the shipping route, and whether your plants are ready for transplant.

In spring, we ship first to the warmest regions and move north as planting conditions improve. For fall deliveries, we begin with the coolest regions and work south. We frequently adjust shipping schedules when extreme weather could put plants at risk while in transit or soon after arrival.

Because different plants reach readiness at different rates and are weather-sensitive in varying degree, a single order may be delivered via multiple shipments. Plants sold as part of a collection, or that are otherwise meant to arrive together, will be shipped together. Please contact our customer service team with two weeks' advance notice if you anticipate being away at the expected time of delivery.

Plant & Container Sizes

We deliver plants in various sizes and stages of growth, and the product detail pages of our website indicate the form and/or pot size in which the plant will be delivered. Pot sizes range from 1 pint to 1 gallon and larger. Many perennials, roses, shrubs and vines are delivered bareroot - that is, not in a container at all. Bulbs and tubers are generally delivered bareroot and fully dormant. We choose container sizes and delivery methods based on how each plant grows best, how we can minimize transplant shock, and how to minimize unnecessary bulk/weight in shipment.
