Hi, I’m Barb Pierson, nursery manager at White Flower Farm. I have the pleasure of growing over 500 plants in our 32 greenhouses. I grew up in horticulture working in greenhouses for my dad, and then went on to earn my degree in ornamental horticulture at Cornell University. Our beautiful display gardens here in Litchfield, CT are the flagship for our passion for plants.

This is the Lloyd Border, a 280 ft herbaceous garden that blooms from April through September. It was created by Fergus Garrett of Great Dixter in England and is named after Christopher Lloyd, the extraordinary garden designer and writer. At White Flower Farm we choose the most colorful and reliable plants from our test gardens and select the varieties that we know will work for our customers. This plant combination showcases Geranium Rozanne, the 2008 perennial plant of the year. Geranium Rozanne blooms throughout the growing season and combines well with other plants, such as Rudbeckia Prairie Sun. Rudbeckia Prairie Sun is annual in our location. And this is the Phlox Robert Poore, which is a perennial. All of these plants thrive in full sun locations.

Our preplanned gardens take the guesswork out of garden design by providing a perfect combination of color, texture and bloom time. Every plant is guaranteed and our growing instructions make planting easy. Our plant quality is insured by horticulturists like myself and my staff.

Expert growing techniques are on display in our tuberous begonia house. The flowers are a product of tubers which come to us from Blackmore and Langdon in England and are impeccably maintained by Cheryl Karpeichik, our head gardener for over 10 years. The spectacular flowers and colors draw visitors from around the country.
