Fritillary
Fritillaria, a genus with over 100 species, has a unique appeal due to the delicate shapes and unusual shades of its flowers. These downward-facing blossoms are bell-like, saucer-like, or tubular, some with leafy tufts (bracts). The characteristic skunky odor of Fritillaria imperialis varieties is a benefit because it deters deer. Plant Fritillary bulbs in rich, well-drained borders and rock gardens.
