Bearded Iris

Both Tall Bearded Iris & Border Bearded Iris (Iris germanica) are June bloomers and their intricate flowers on long, strong stems make them key elements in many gardens. Bearded Iris colors range from creams and soft pastels to rich blues and purples, plus extraordinary combinations of vivid reds and oranges that are unmatched in the plant world outside the tropics. Recent breeding has brought forward reblooming Iris varieties that further extend their magnificence. Their exotic looks and intense fragrance of wild grapes suggest a fragility, but that's a false impression. Bearded Iris are rugged and reliable when given plenty of sun and well-drained soil, and plants will continue to prosper for many years with minimal care.
