Stonecrop
Stonecrops comprise a diverse group of species within the genera Sedum and Hylotelephium. These fleshy-leaved perennials are found in mountains mainly in the Northern Hemisphere, typically on rocky or stony ledges. They present a kaleidoscope of substantial, colorful foliage over a long season, topped by star-shaped, nectar-rich flowers for pollinators. Stonecrops prefer well-drained soil, can thrive with just a modest level of nutrients, and come in many fascinating and colorful forms. They’re perfect drought-tolerant choices for rocky, sandy or gravelly soils in rock gardens, containers, pavement edges, stone patios, hellstrips, green roofs, and water-wise gardens of all kinds.
