Product Details

Acer palmatum dissectum 'Waterfall' is the best of the bunch, with more deeply cut leaves, longer cascading branches, and knockout fall foliage—changing from emerald green to bright gold tinged orange and red. This cut-leaf Japanese Maple is a landscape feature by the terrace; perfection overlooking a pond. A Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Gold Medal Plant.

The 150 species of Maples have a wide distribution, from Europe and Asia to North and Central America. Their winged fruits twirl like helicopters when they drop, but their often colorful, lobed, or finely cut leaves are the real attraction.

Shipping

Shipping
Every state has agricultural regulations that restrict the shipment of certain plants. We're sorry, but we cannot ship this item to the following states: New Jersey, Wisconsin.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

WHEN WE SHIP

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

OUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-503-9624 or email us at [email protected]. Please include your order number or customer number when contacting us.

Winter Rabbit Food

Michael H Kooker from Sloan, Iowa,USA

Planted it in fall2018, and After a hard winter, the rabbits left me with a stick grafted on a stick. It is April 13,2019, and I await what will come of it. Seriously considering a reorder and constructing a 6 foot brick wall around it. ( Rabbits have chewed on wires in neighboor's new car x3 and cost hundreds of $$$ )

One of the best of the Japanese maples!

Doug from Cape Cod, MA

Although I did not buy this from White Flower Farm, I have had a Waterfall for five years now. I have over 55 different varieties of Japanese maples and this is one of the very best. Mine is planted beside a slightly raised deck, so it forms a sort of border near the dining table. It is beautiful all year round -- light green in spring, darker green in summer, multiple yellows, oranges and red at the same time in fall. It also has a beautiful, slightly weeping shape, with little or no pruning and looks elegant even when the leaves are gone.

This small tree/shrub gets many very positive comments from guests. Very highly recommended!

Latin Name Pronunciation: ay'sir

Plant Acer in soil that is average to moist, and well drained. Little pruning is necessary, except to remove dead, broken, or wayward branches in late fall to midwinter.

To protect the leaves of Japanese Maples (Acer palmatum) from scorching, choose a location away from drying winds and hot sun. Most varieties grow at a slow to moderate rate (less than 12″ per year). Late spring frosts may damage the tender new leaves.

Planting the Golden Full Moon Maple (Acer shirasawanum 'Aureum') in partial shade protects its leaves from scorching and gives them the best yellow coloring.
