Growing Actinidia (Arctic Beauty Kiwi)

Latin Name Pronunciation: ak-tin-id'ee-uh

CULTURE: Plant in full sun or partial shade in average garden soil. Space 6-8' apart. Shade reduces the intensity of the leaf coloring in the North but preserves it in the South and warm inland areas of the West. The leaves of young plants may not show the variegation for two or three years; coloring improves with age. Prune in early spring or to keep in bounds. Climbs by means of stems that twine from left to right.

GROWTH: Fast growing, 24" or more per year with good growing conditions.

PROBLEM: No notable insect or disease problems.
