Growing Lavatera (Tree Mallow)

Latin Name Pronunciation: lav-ah-ter-ah

Full sun (afternoon shade is recommended in the South). Average garden soil. Has shrubby tendencies; wait until spring to prune away stems killed back by winter cold. Plants in the South are generally not long-lived; replace every 2-3 years or take cuttings to start new plants.
