Prunella (Self Heal)

Latin Name Pronunciation: proo-nell’uh

A genus of about a dozen species that are useful for both sunny and shady parts of a perennial border, planting on hillsides and banks, as well as a ground cover under trees and shrubs. Their dense flower spikes create colorful carpets, and attract beneficial insects to the garden. Plant in full sun or partial shade in average garden soil. (In the South, they require shade and consistently moist soil.)
