HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED
The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.
WHEN WE SHIP
We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

Growing guide
Enliven your interiors this winter with an indoor miniature shrub garden featuring a colorful and varied collection of favorite evergreens.
LIGHT: Indoors, mini evergreens should be close to a window to receive at least 6-8 hours a day of direct sun. Choose a location for your tree that is away from heat sources such as wood stoves and radiators.
TEMPERATURE: We recommend placing your trees in a cool room (where the temperature does not rise much above 65°F) and checking the soil mix frequently with your finger. If the mix feels dry 1/2” below the surface, water thoroughly. Do not allow the pots to sit in water inside the plastic-lined basket. The best way to water is to lift the pot from the basket, water the tree at the sink, then return it to the basket after the excess water has drained away.
CONTINUING CARE:
Please note: Our slow-growing trees are best treated as seasonal plants and discarded after the holidays. However, with some care they can be maintained over the winter and planted out in spring in their hardiness zones. The Juniper, Arborvitae, Chamaecyparis and Spruce are generally hardy to zone 3 to 5. If you live in these zones, you can move the tree to a place where it will receive bright light but no direct sun and the temperatures are between 35-50°F, continue watering as above, and plant it outside in the spring as soon as the soil can be worked. Choose a site in full sun with average, well-drained soil. Dig a hole deep enough to accommodate the roots, then turn the pot upside down and tap the bottom to remove the tree. Place your tree in the hole so the top of the root ball is level with the soil line and fill in around the roots with soil. Press the soil to firm and water thoroughly.
The Lemon Cypress can spend the summer outdoors in a sunny location. If you live in Zone 7 or warmer, you can grow it outdoors year round. Move it outdoors after danger of frost is past. If you wish to keep it in a container, repot every 4 years, using a fast-draining soil mixture. To plant in the ground, choose a site that is protected from cold, harsh winds. Although it prefers full sun, it can tolerate some light shade. It is not fussy about soil as long as it is well drained with a pH of 6.6 to 7.5. It will grow to 6-8ft in 10 years with a width of just 1-2ft, having a narrow columnar habit. Pruning is seldom needed, although it can be gently shaped in spring if necessary.
