Shrubs & Trees for Warmer Zones
White Flower Farm continues our longstanding commitment to trial the plants we offer in our own gardens, so we can confidently stand behind them. Some valuable ornamental plants grown in milder climates have not previously been front of mind here, simply because it gets too cold to grow them at our farm in Morris, Connecticut. We admire – and admit to a touch of envy - the variety of broadleaf evergreens and winter blooms that make gardens in warmer places so delightful.
We have many customers in warm zones, though, and we don’t like to disappoint them. After conferring with our trusted sources, we now offer some choice shrubs and small trees for warmer climates. New genetics add disease resistance, compact form, color breaks, reblooming, and sometimes, increased hardiness. The updated USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map locates many of us in a warmer zone now, expanding the possibilities further north. Refer to each plant’s individual Growing Guide for more information.
