Did you forget to order Daffodil and Tulip bulbs last fall? You can still enjoy these colorful and cheerful spring blossoms at your house. This season, we’re delighted to offer prepotted containers, full of spring-flowering favorites. Full-petaled, canary-yellow flowers with bright red flames certainly make 'Monsella' eye-catching, and it's lightly fragrant, too. The blossoms respond to the brightness of the sun, opening their petals 4–5″ wide when it shines and keeping them huddled when it doesn't. Good for forcing. Our bulb pots are 10" wide x 5" tall and designed for outdoor display. They arrive ready to begin growing.

Simply set the bulbs in a sunny spot outdoors upon arrival, no need to worry about a frost. Water it occasionally, and, over the course of 4-6 weeks, watch as green shoots and then blossoms appear. Choose a single basket for your porch, patio, or front stoop, or order several different types so you can mix and match colors and flower forms to create a vibrant display.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

WHEN WE SHIP

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

Our Ready-to-Bloom Tulip bulbs are intended to be displayed outdoors in spring. Upon arrival, carefully remove the packing material. You may find pale, tender leaf tips emerging from the potting mix; these will green up once exposed to sunlight. In some cases, the growing medium may be partly frozen, and this is not harmful to your bulbs. Once thawed, gently press down loose soil and brush off any excess, leaving up to an inch of space from the top of the pot to accommodate watering.

Set the Tulip bulbs in a sunny location outside. A semi-protected spot near the house—on a porch, patio, or front stoop—is ideal. Bulbs have everything they need to grow and bloom (fertilizer is unnecessary) and have been pre-chilled for the right amount of time. They will endure spring’s freezing and thawing temperatures, and precipitation, with minimal care. Water when the potting mix feels dry to the touch. If there is a basket, we recommend removing the pot before watering if possible, giving it time to drain before replacing it in the basket.

Please note that the growth of the bulbs will be slower in colder temperatures and faster in warmer temperatures. Bulbs usually begin blooming 4-6 weeks after arrival.

We have found that most Tulips do not rebloom reliably after being forced. We treat our forced Tulips as a one time show and generally compost after blooming. If your Ready-to-Bloom bulbs include Muscari, the bulbs can be planted outdoors in regions where they are hardy, typically to Zone 4. When replanting, set the bulbs in the ground at the same depth as they were growing in the pot. After planting, allow at least a year before you can expect the bulbs to flower again. /p>
