Here are our lectures and events for 2018.

All lectures and workshops start at 10:00am and take place in the Farm’s lecture room located in the upper parking lot. Fees noted next to each event.

Saturday, May, 15 - 1:30 p.m. 6th Annual "Make & Take" Annual Container Potting Event

We make container planting easy with this ever-popular event. Here’s how it works:

1.) Pick your preferred time slot when you register.

2.) Meet up at the nursery with one of our garden advisors who will walk you through our greenhouses and help you select plants to create a beautiful and successful container planting.

3.) Wander over to our potting bench where another staff member will pot up your plants in a preselected 14” pot.

4.) Depart with a container full of plants that will grow together beautifully and flourish all season long on your patio or porch.

*Cost includes one 14” pot, soil, up to five 4” annuals chosen by you from our inventory, and potting labor. Any additional plants you wish to purchase will be charged at regular retail prices.

**Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the number of participants will be limited to 12 customers per hour. Register early! The event takes place rain or shine.

It’s easy to grow fresh herbs, berries, Tomatoes and an array of delicious vegetables in grow bags, window boxes, and decorative containers, all of which are a great solution for small spaces and for creating a backdoor kitchen garden. Tending fruits and vegetables is also a great way to spend more time outdoors with your family while enjoying the fun and benefits of harvesting healthy food. Participants will choose a grow bag or window box and fill it with a choice of 3 to 5 vegetable or herb plants. Register now and pay at time of event. The fee starts at $35 per person and varies depending on container and plant selections.

*Due to Covid-19 restrictions, participation is limited to 24 individuals who will be seated outside with adequate space for social distancing.

No other group of flowering shrubs has created as much buzz and excitement recently as Hydrangeas. But with such a wide array of types and varieties in the marketplace, we’d like to offer you tips and assistance in choosing the right Hydrangea for your garden. Gather outside with store manager Tom Bodnar, and enjoy a stroll around our display gardens to learn about new breeding successes, how to prune different types of Hydrangea, and best practices for planting and caring for these shrubs in your yard. Whether you grow Hydrangeas for long-blooming color from summer to fall or for cutting blossoms (fresh or dried) to create effortless bouquets, you’ll walk away with a better understanding of this fun and useful garden plant. This event is free and will be held outdoors.

We are keen to share the success of our Rose Garden, which showcases a wide variety of Roses along with companion perennials. Customers have marveled at the beauty of the colorful combinations, the discovery of new Rose selections, and the soothing nature of a relaxing walk through the garden. Join head gardener Cheryl Whalen to learn about the design behind the garden, the characteristics of certain Roses, and tips on how to plant and care for these beloved shrubs in your own home landscape. This event is free and will be held outdoors with adequate social distancing.

July Yoga in the Garden

Join us for a 4-week yoga course taught by a certified instructor and set amid our beautiful display gardens. In these troubling times, this course is a great way to rejuvenate body and spirit while finding a soothing and calming inner balance. The course is open to all levels. You’ll have fun, come away relaxed, and enjoy the serenity of exercising outdoors amid beautiful flowering plants. Check back, specific details to follow!
