At home in full sun or partial shade, in beds or containers, and by itself or combined with annuals and perennials, BIG™ Red with Bronze Leaf flowers early and often. It's one of the BIG™ series of hybrids (part Angelwing Begonia and part Begonia semperflorens) with an arching, upright habit and well-branched stems that hold large, 2–3″ blooms above the leaves. An absolute knockout for summer color, and you'll want to bring this one indoors for the winter, too. Container not included.
The genus Begonia offers some outstanding plants for foliage. They need bright, indirect light, well-drained soil, at least 50% humidity, and warm temperatures to be at their best. During the summers, they become one of the most stylish and exciting plants for a shady container.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED
The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.
WHEN WE SHIP

Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the Shipping Details box for each item. Please refer to the Shipping Details box to determine the earliest shipping time. Unless you specify otherwise, fertilizers, tools, and other non-plant items are shipped with your plants or bulbs. Please supply a street address for delivery. I couldn't believe the sad, pathetic, half-dead, limp sprout I got in the mail, after waiting forever for the beautiful begonia advertised. I don't think I've ever been quite this disappointed with something I ordered online. Last time I'll order from this website.

I purchased 3 of these plants for a container garden. When the plants arrived, though small, they were the expected size from the catalog description. I planted them in a large clay pot in routine potting soil, placed them in a partially shady spot, watered when needed, and (occasionally, when I remembered) deadheaded the spent flowers. With minimal attention, they quickly grew into robust plants covered with flowers, and they bloomed continuously throughout the summer and well into late October. The bronze colored leaves are a very pretty backdrop to the intensely colored flowers. Would definitively purchase again.
Fibrous Begonias are a diverse group known for their colorful flowers, compact shape, and rounded green, bronze, or variegated leaves. Native to tropical and subtropical regions, they are grown as annuals in cooler areas where they are not hardy. A widely popular bedding and container plant, fibrous Begonias provide a continuous display of color throughout the growing season. With no deadheading of spent blooms required, these Begonias are low maintenance plants making them carefree and well adapted to a variety of garden settings.
Light/Watering: Fibrous Begonias flower well in partial shade to full sun. Bronze-leaved varieties are more suited to full sun. Water moderately once or twice a week during the warmer season.
Fertilizer/Soil and pH: Plant in well-drained soil high in organic matter. Use an all-purpose fertilizer for annuals monthly during the warmer season.
Pests/Diseases: Fibrous Begonias can occasionally be troubled by slugs. Use slug bait, dishes of beer, and diatomaceous earth to discourage them.
Companions: An exceptional container plant, fibrous Begonias pair well with colorful foliage plants such as Caladium, Coleus, and Ipomoea. Or combine in mass plantings with Impatiens and Fuchsia in the garden.
End-of-Season Care: Can be brought indoors in winter in cold climates, and kept in a sunny window.
