Growing Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana)
Throughout most of the country, Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana) is best grown in full sun in a container, where it is easily maintained as an evergreen houseplant during the winter and as a patio or garden plant in the frost-free months. Water when the soil surface is dry and feed every 2 weeks with a balanced fertilizer diluted to half strength. Leaves can be harvested at any time and can be used fresh or dry. Stevia can ultimately grow to 2ft tall with an equal spread. Gardeners in Zones 8-10 can grow Stevia outdoors in average garden soil in full sun.
